Introduction

Location Finder lets you define locations along with their details and have these viewed on a map by your users. You can easily configure Location Finder map on any page to display your locations. Multiple map properties give you fine control over the final map display. Auto calculation of latitude and longitude values based on the location address provided makes adding new locations simple and easy. Location Finder is flexible and can be adapted to several uses including:
  • Store Locations
  • Branch Office Locations
  • Franchise Locations
  • Service Center Locations
  • Owned/Managed Property Locations
  • Construction Project Sites
  • And many more!

Add a New Location

To create a new location, proceed as below.
  1. On the Location Finder app page select New Item to navigate to New Location Form.
  2. Provide Title, Address, Latitude and Longitude values for the location.
  3. If you are not sure of the Latitude and Longitude values then we provide you with an easy way to calculate those points based on the location address.
    After providing address, click Calculate Map Point button. If your address is valid then latitude and longitude text boxes shall be automatically filled with the correct values otherwise an error shall be displayed.
  4. Enter Phone, Email address and URL of the location if you want to display them on the map. (Title, Address, Phone, Email and URL shall be displayed as details of the marked location on the map).
  5. Save form and your new location shall be added in the list.
Note: Latitude and Longitude values are not mandatory. If you don’t provide or auto-calculate them then your location shall be saved without them but a warning will be displayed regarding missing values. Locations missing latitude and longitude values cannot be displayed on the map.

 

Edit a Location

You can easily modify existing locations’ information. All modifications are reflected on the map as soon as modifications are done. Please proceed as below in order to modify a location.
  1. On the location finder app page, click open item menu against the location that you want to edit.
  2. Item menu shall open up displaying various options. Select Edit Item.
  3. You will be redirected to the Edit Form of the location finder app displaying existing information.
  4. Make your desired changes.
  5. Save changes to reflect them on the map.

 

View List of Locations

 

Delete a Location

You can easily delete existing locations from the map. You can either remove them from the map only or permanently delete their information from the list of locations. To remove them only from the map, just edit the location and empty the Latitude and Longitude values. To delete a location permanently proceed as below.

Delete Single Location:
  1. On the Location Finder home page, click open item menu against the location to be deleted.
  2. Item menu shall open up displaying various options. Select Delete Item.
  3. A confirmation pop up shall be displayed confirming deletion. Click Yes to delete the location or Cancel to cancel out the deletion operation.
  4. If deletion is confirmed then the location shall be permanently deleted from the list and the map.


Delete Multiple Locations:
  1. If you want to delete more than one location then select all the locations that you want to delete on Location Finder home page.
  2. Select Items tab from the ribbon and then select Delete Item.
  3. A confirmation pop up shall be displayed confirming deletion. Click Yes to delete locations or Cancel to cancel out the deletion operation.
  4. If deletion is confirmed, all selected locations shall be permanently deleted from the list and the map.

 

Add Map to a Page

You can easily add the map view of the locations to any page on your site. To add and configure the display of the map please proceed as below.
  1. Edit the page, and from the Ribbon select Insert and then select App Part.
  2. Add Location Finder App Part from Parts gallery.
  3. Location Finder App part shall be added to the page with default map view. Incase if you have already created locations then the default map view displays them.
  4. To assist you with location or map display, Location Finder provides you with map properties that you can use to provide a more detailed display or provide display control to your location viewers.
  5. To set those properties edit the Location Finder app part.
  6. Expand "Map" section to expose properties. Here you can set following properties.
    1. Initial Map Type
      Road Map - displays the default road map view
      Satellite – displays Google Earth satellite images
      Hybrid – displays mixture of normal and satellite views
      Terrain – displays a physical map based on terrain information
    2. Show Map type Control
      displays or hides the Map Type selection control. If chosen to display then users can use it to change map views.
  7. After making changes, apply those changes to the app part. Your changes will start reflecting on the map.
